On Saturday the 1st of April 2017, we were blessed to be involved in providing the music for the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony between Gregory and Nusjaree, celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in City Beach, Western Australia.
A small and intimate affair with family and close friends, Gregory and Nusjaree exchanged vows whilst celebrating a traditional Nuptial Mass which was officiated by the Parish Priest of Holy Spirit, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel-tv Dimobi.
Gregory contacted Simon Montgomery two weeks prior to the wedding date to enquire about some potential wedding music options. Initially he had thought of just having someone operate recorded music at the back of the church, he and Nusjaree had a concern that live music might be overpowering and distracting to their envisioned intimate wedding celebration. However, after some discussion and thought Gregory decided to take our advice and booked the talented Stephanie Ryan as a solo vocalist, accompanied by Simon Montgomery on piano and backing vocals.
Over the coming week Gregory and Nusjaree decided on the songs that they were wanting to be used, one special condition that they had was the traditional thai music “Love” that Nusjaree wanted as her bridal entrance to bring a connection to her home and ancestry. The other songs selected included:
- Pre-Music – Pachelbel’s Canon in D (performed by Simon Montgomery)
- Instrumental Music throughout the lighting of the candles (performed by Simon Montgomery)
- Here We Stand Lord (Traditional Hymn) for the lighting of the Unity Candle.
- Take Our Bread (Traditional Hymn) for the Offertory.
- Eucharistic Mass Parts.
- The Lord’s Prayer (Sister Janet Mead).
- One Bread One Body (Traditional) for Communion.
- Here I Kneel Before You (Traditional) for after Communion.
- Fields of Gold (Sting) Signing of the Register.
- Wedding March (Mendelssohn) Recessional Hymn.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and intimate, a beautiful beginning for Gregory and Nusjaree’s life together. At the conclusion of the wedding, Gregory commented as to how “wonderful the music was [it being] exactly what he had pictured to create the perfect mood for their special day.”
