On Saturday the 30th of July 2011 Daryl Pranata and Christina Tanuadji celebrated their wedding with a ceremony at the Aquinas College chapel followed by their wedding reception in the Golden Ballroom at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth, Western Australia.
The Wedding Music Planner team was approached at the end of 2010 with the prospect of providing the musical entertainment and technical logistics necessary to ensure that the wedding reception ran smoothly and to plan. The team lead by the owner of the Wedding Music Planner, Simon Montgomery, set about organising quotes and a quality list of entertainers to provide the requested jazz style of evening for Daryl and Christina. The suggestion and quote that was presented to Daryl and Christina included a jazz trio to entertain the guests in the first part of the evening throughout the dinner courses and before the formalities of the evening with then the Simon Montgomery Quintet featuring Ben Hall to take over as the main entertainment act for the evening to perform jazz standards for the guests to dance to throughout the remainder of the evening. Included in this quote was also the cost of hiring all the necessary production equipment and an audio engineer to operate the sound console and also operate the pre-recorded music that had been requested for the bridal party entrance, speech theme music for each speaker, cutting of cake and first dance as bride and groom.
In preparation for this event Simon Montgomery spent time liaising with the events co-ordinator from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Avril Bezant, via email as well as a face to face meeting and walk through of the room and facilities to ensure that everything was going to run smoothly from an entertainment perspective on the evening. In this meeting organisational aspects including a stage size and layout, availability of power, noise restrictions and load in / pack down requirements were all discussed thoroughly. Avril and the team at the Pan Pacific were an absolute pleasure to partner with to provide a memorable evening for Daryl and Christina, their family and their 380 guests.
The Emerson Brophy jazz trio were booked to provide the entertainment over the first part of the wedding reception evening. This ensemble featured tenor saxophonist Emerson Brophy whose sensitivity and skill in improvising provided the perfect ambience for the evening. Emerson was accompanied for the two sets of 50 minutes by Gavin Nicklette on piano and Karl Brown on drums. The repertoire was comprised of many well known jazz standards across styles including Latin, Swing, Blues, Bebop and Ballads and provided an ideal atmosphere of sophistication and style at a volume that was able to be talked over with great ease by the guests as they enjoyed the delightful entrees and main courses from the Pan Pacific’s high skilled culinary staff.
A special mention and thanks must go to Adam James from NADAM events for providing the PA system and audio engineering for the evening. His skill and experience as an audio engineer added a high level of professionalism to the evening from the first cued musical item as the bridal party were entering to ensuring that the volume and mix of the live entertainment at all times was the perfect level for the guests to have maximum enjoyment from the evening.
