Gavin Nicklette

Jazz Pianist and Vocalist

Gavin Nicklette has been playing the piano since he was 6 years of age. Initially trained as a classical musician, he became intrigued by jazz whilst in high-school and went on to study Jazz Performance (Piano) in 2005 at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Exceptionally comfortable on stage, Gavin enjoys singing and playing for audiences of any size – from tens to thousands of people. He’s performed at various hotels, restaurants, cafes, halls, clubs & pubs around Perth, the Fairbridge Folk Festival & also played live on radio. He is currently performing regularly as a member of the St Thomas Big Band and Ben Zabbia as well as having previously performed as a member of the Western Australian Jazz Orchestra (WAYJO).

Gavin has been influenced by a multitude of artists – from the greatest Jazz masters to the humble Home-DJ’s to the latest Pop-tacular creation of the moment. From Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles & Jamie Cullum, to artists like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake & Christina Aguilera, to Frou Frou, St Germain, Basement Jaxx & Gnarls Barkley.

His repertoire of Jazz Standards & Easy-Listening tunes is perfect for your next wedding reception, party, sundowner or even Christmas functions. As he also has years of experience as a Liturgical Accompanist, he is also able to play for wedding ceremonies and various other church services.
