Heirisson Rotary Club Dinner 26th June 2010

On the 26th of June 2010 the Wedding Music Planner provided the music entertainment for the Heirisson Rotary Club Annual Dinner held at the Mount Lawley Golf Club in Perth, Western Australia.

The club had organised entertainment to complement the theme of the evening, James Bond – Casino Royal, but due to unforeseen circumstances the entertainment became unavailable 13 days prior to the dinner. Upon this happening Simon Montgomery, the Wedding Music Planner, was contacted by the Rotary Club to see if he could organise entertainment for the evening. Within 24 hours of receiving this request the Rotary Club had received a proposal for the evening entertainment providing them with three different options of band entertainment, a sample of each band repertoire and the cost that would be involved in the booking of these bands.

The club had asked that the entertainment be done in three small sets of ten minutes each and that to keep with the theme of the evening that some songs that had featured as theme songs from James Bond movies be performed. The club also asked for a recommendation on which band out of the three would best suit the atmosphere of the venue and the overall evening.

The Ben Hall Trio, featuring the vocal talents of Ben Hall and accompanied by Mitchell Mollison on keys and Patrick van der Moezel on tenor saxophone, performed a combination of James Bond theme songs and their standard jazz repertoire for the evening.
The songs “From Russia with Love”, “You Only Live Twice” and ‘We Have All The Time In The World” from the Bond Movies “From Russia With Love”, “You Only Live Twice” and “ On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” were specifically learnt for the evening. These were combined with well known jazz classics including “Moondance”, “All of Me”, “Fly Me to the Moon”, “Have You Met Miss Jones” and “Love” to create three short sets that were enjoyed by all who attended the dinner. The final songs performed by the trio had people getting up and dancing with their loved ones to the tunes of “Moondance” and “From Russia with Love”.
The Ben Hall trio were professional and sensitive to the needs of the Rotary Club Dinner from the setup in the evening, through the night to the pack up at the end of the evening, many people commented on how their pack up was so efficient and quiet that they didn’t even notice they had packed down. Their high level of professionalism and ability to meet the requests of the club through song selection as well as their attire (suits) and ability to communicate and interact with the dinner guests all contributed to the success of the evening entertainment.
