Rebecca Dugmore and Curtis Harmer Wedding Canapes 21st January 2012

The Simon Montgomery Trio performed as the pre-reception live entertainment for the wedding of Curtis Harmer and Rebecca Dugmore on the 21st of January 2012 at Sandalford Winery in the Oak Courtyard.

The Wedding Music Planner had been booked to provide music for both the wedding ceremony and pre-reception for Rebecca and Curtis and managed to deliver an affordable package including the hiring of PA equipment needed for the two groups.

The jazz trio were booked to play two sets of 50 minutes between the ceremony and reception as the guests enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and canapes in the Oak Courtyard area.  The trio, featuring Simon Montgomery on alto and tenor saxophones, Ben Hall on vocals and Gavin Nickelette on piano provided a combination of well known and loved jazz standards that were received well by the gathered guests.

The trio commenced the first set with the well known and loved standard “Fly Me To The Moon” which featured Simon on the alto saxophone. At the conclusion of this tune the set continued with tunes including “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”, “Night and Day”, “All the Things You Are” and “Route 66”.

At the end of the first set the group were approached by one of the guests, Paul, who has sat in with various bands around Perth including with bass player Murray Wilkins to see if he could “sit in” for a song in the second set. It was agreed that durign the second set that Paul would be called up to do a duet of the standard “Beautiful Love” with Simon Montgomery on Tenor Saxophone.

The second set commenced with a tune recently made popular again by Michael Buble, “Sway”. With a blistering saxophone solo from Simon Montgomery in the middle of the song the audience were held captivated throughout the tune. The trio followed up with the standard “Bye Bye Blackbird” which had some of the guests joining in singing the melody. This songs “Come Fly With Me”, “Tangerine” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” were performed before Paul was called up to perform “Beautiful Love”.  The trio were beginning to come to the end of the second set and finished with the combination of “L.O.V.E” and “All of Me”.
